ideabangkok.com: crowdsourcing for urban development

Together with several partners in the media and urban planning sectors, ChangeFusion has just launched a prototype crowdsourcing tool for the purpose of aggregating ideas for improving Bangkok whether through public infrastructure, cultural activities etc.

The current Bangkok Governor's election has caught onto ideabangkok.com to get voters to submit ideas that establish a systematic link between the public and policy-makers in order to allow people to initiate or be a part of social change that will have effects on their lives and communities.

First, post you own idea on www.ideabangkok.com about how you want Bangkok to change. It can be on any issues, public transports, technology, environment, etc. And at the same time, look at other people's ideas on the web and vote or comment. The most popular ones will be pushed into real actions!

After the election, the Governor's office will review the 12 most popular ideas and engage in a process to begin implementing those ideas critical change.

Such crowdsourcing technologies can be used in any field. This was proven recently by Dell's IdeaStorm which enabled Dell to listen to its customers better and also led to the launch of non-Window Dell PCs.
