SIM Democracy Project
Change Fusion Institute, in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Club Creative Co. Ltd and the Election Commission of Thailand, had launched its Democracy Board Game Project in 2011. The Democracy Board Game Project is an initiative with the main objective of enhancing the public’s understanding toward the principles of democracy in a fun and interesting manner. The board game, SIM Democracy, leads players through the process of democracy as well as illustrates how an individual could become involved and engage in the political process through game-play. SIM Democracy is expected to be widely used as a supplemental edutainment tool that will assist teachers in their curriculum on the subject of democracy and revolutionize the way democracy is taught in classrooms; Thus, the projects objectives are: 1) To create a interactive learning tool that helps simplify the concept of democracy and make the learning more fun and interesting; 2) To enhance an understanding towards democracy in Thai youths between the ages of 12-18 as this is the prime age for initial engagement in the political process. In its later phases, the Democracy Board Game Project is expected to expand to the national and regional front, with an online SIM democracy offered in both the Thai and English language.
